> I would like to start using FreeBSD, I want to rid myself of the Microsoft/Windows realm. I want to start using UNIX, I know some about it but not enough, I do NT admin and I think breath, eat and drink NT no time to learn something new, so I am putting off quitting smoking and am going to learn FreeBSD (from what I hear it is the OS of choice).

It pretty over whelming for me being in a sea of unix and seeing the sunny island of FreeBSD off in the distance. Please turn me in the right direction, i.e. books, docs faqs anything..

hmm... I think there is everything you need to know in the www.freebsd.org
site, you can start by reading the texts there... handbook and stuff...
and in the ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/2.2.6-RELEASE
there should be some *.TXT files... like... ABOUT and INSTALL...
I think that is enough to point kinda in the way... if anyone knows
anything else... hehehe.. help out... I dont know everything...
just to send out a quick answer..

I was using a 486dx66 amd, 16 megs to run freebsd....
kinda built by myself, so, I dont think you will have any problem
running FreeBSD on that box...
