Thanks Pietro! Somehow the man-page for ifconfig is confusing.... Remove the IPv6 address added in the above example, using the / character as shorthand for the network prefix, and using delete as a synonym for the canonical form of the option -alias: # ifconfig em0 inet6 2001:db8:bdbd::123/48 delete </quote> Lesson for me is that you should have only one 'command' per invocation where I had 2. alias is not an atribute/option of the setting I was trying to do....
