yes.

Wrong.  2.8.1 or egcs 1.1.1 have all been proven by the author to do
the job just fine, either choice being sufficient for our purposes.
The only question is whether to take gcc 2.8.1 and risk more immediate
obsolescence or take egcs and risk unending war over the threads
question.
