What is the output of the following sequence:
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/vmware.sh stop
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/vmware.sh start
kldstat

Check that you are have vmnetxx nodes in /compat/linux/dev, and don't have
it on /dev.
