Being one who once was subscribed to -bugs, I'd say it *could* hurt.  
Considering the number of messages posted there, I think it is rather an
overkill for those who want to get notified of just one or two PRs
they're interested in.

I have no problem with these ways, but some sort of pushing methods
(like e-mail) rather than pulling would definitely be desirable.
