Hi, I'm now at a point where I could use a good idea:

jre1.1.8 installed
Oracle runInstaller script changed so it's using green threads and the
installed jre1.1.8 (/usr/local/jre1.1.8/)
follwed all instructions I could find and checked/double checked
(so surely I missed something =8-| ).

Oracle Universal Installer is started.
Input "file location" source/destination and [NEXT]
gets to about 32% (sometimes less) and then stops with

"There was a problem accessing the staging area. Please
make sure the specified values for 'Source' and 'Destination'
   are valid."

Even though /tmp/OraInstall/oraInstall.err and
            /tmp/OraInstall/oraInstall.out
are created, nothing is written to those files.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Holger
