May be I am missing something, but I thought
2.1.6. was supposed to get to the -stable release, and just than die.
(At least, that's how I understand Jordan's explanations on 2.1.6. release)
It doesn't seem to be there yet.

2.2... doesn't have -stable version yet (does it ?) either....

THere should exist at least something which can be used
without too many changes for some period of time ;->

THanks for the explanations about patches, etc.
