I can't answer the docs question, but can say that I have been told that 
there are something like three to five different implementations of ISDN in 
the USA. Which one you get depends on where you live. Sheesh indeed ;(

It appears that several of them are closely related, so it's perhaps not as 
bad as it sounds.
