you are running config from the directory:
 /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/mykernel right?

if this is after a cvsup, you may need to build a new config, 
cd /usr/src/usr.sbin/config/ && make && make install

then try again, alternately you may have hosed your sources and
should cvsup again.
