I've had reasionable success with booting with the CD/DVD drive installed and then pulling it and inserting a floppy (since they detect even if they aren't there.) As long as you don't access the non-existant ATA drive it seems to be OK, but I rather doubt this is recommended and a little forgetfulness leads to crashes this way. > *) can I get the DVD drive to run in DMA mode?
