I haven't yet found notes on optimizing the kernel by telling the compiler I have a Pentium rather than just a 386-compatible processor. I presume these lines in the kernel configuration file deal with this: machine i386 cpu I386_CPU cpu I486_CPU cpu I586_CPU cpu I686_CPU Q: Do I comment out the "I386_CPU" and "I486_CPU" lines to optimize for a Pentium, (& if not, how do I,) and Q: Does it make a significant difference?
