Hi all. I have Asrock K7VT4A Pro motherboard with via VT8237 chipset. Sound is great, I just can not control the volume. I know it is a known issue, but maybe this information can help someone to resolve this problem. I run FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE-p6. I applied a patch from http://staff.mybsd.org.my/skywizard/FreeBSD/sound/snd_RELENG_5_20050825_035.diff, but still no luck. After that dmesg shows: dmesg | grep pcm pcm0: <VIA VT8237> port 0xc400-0xc4ff irq 22 at device 17.5 on pci0 pcm0: <Unknown AC97 Codec (id = 0x434d4983)> pcm0: <VIA DXS Enabled: DXS 4 / SGD 1 / REC 1> cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Installed devices: pcm0: <VIA VT8237> at io 0xc400 irq 22 kld snd_via8233 (5p/5s/1r/0v channels duplex default) Win driver says it is a CMI 9761A codec. If I boot from "live" FreeSBie CD, 1.1 it is the same situation. Thanks for your support, Ales.
