what do you have for:

options {
        // Relative to the chroot directory
	// named_chrootdir="/var/named"
        directory       "/etc/namedb";
        pid-file        "/var/run/named/pid";
        dump-file       "/var/dump/named_dump.db";
        statistics-file "/var/stats/named.stats";
.....
