Greetings, I have a Compaq Proliant 1600/1600R with two P2-400 matched processors running on FreeBSD-4.2-Release. The machine runs fine with a single processor kernel, but when I try to boot with an SMP kernel it locks up during the boot process. These are the last several lines of the boot-up: Changing APIC ID for IOAPIC # 0 from 0 to 8 on chip Programming 35 pins in IOAPIC # 0 IOAPIC # 0 intpin 2 -> irq 0 IOAPIC # 0 intpin 30 -> irq 2 ... HANG ... I have to power cycle the machine to bring it back up. During power-up the system detects and reports both processors, so they seem to be found. I was looking in the list archives and found many people having problems with Compaq servers, but there did not seem to be any resolutions. Any insight as to what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.
