...and then write normal mkisofs produced ISO images onto the DVD ?
Interesting. Wiill those then mount in another system O.K., or will
it get confused by a DVD without a UDF filesystem on it ?

I  am also interested in doing this - though under a different
BSD OS (NextStep) to backup and retrieve large volumes of data.
