I've got Compaq X1012QV running FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE with XFree86 4.0.3. If I close (screen becomes blank) and open the lid, the screen remains blank. I have to switch blindly to the console (ctrl + alt + F1) and close+open the lid. After that I can switch to X-Window again and everything is ok (if I don't close and open my lid again ;)).
