The "some problem" you refer to was the disabled cache pipeline in the earlier models. You had to disable the option for CPU Cache Write Pipeline, or else large data writes to/from memory could crash your system. It was actually a minor thing, and probably wasn't causing this problem. A lot of the trouble associated with the k6-2 is actually from the chipsets and motherboards that may not have been built as well as the nice boards Intel sells (like the infamous SE440BX) as long as you do research into the hardware, you can get a rock-solid system.
