I have read a lot of Cisco books, including CLSC. Cisco recommends that you 
do not use auto-select. By definition, when you get FCS errors, that means 
the card must have gone to FULL mode. If there were collisions, then it went 
to half. I would hard coat which ever mode you know you need and you should 
be fine. Also check out the catalyst pages and that will help immensely.
