Set up another user to do real work, or you may end up doing something
as root that you would rather not.

What does your path look like?  Try the /usr/bin/env command.  What shell
are you using?  Do you have the .profile or .cshrc set up?  Looks like
you are missing /usr/X11R6/bin in your path.

You really need to get your hands on a couple of decent Unix books.  Try:

Unix for Dummies ( don't have it front of me, but a good helper for basics )

Unix System Administration Handbook, Nemeth, etal
