I have tried Evolution 0.99.[012] and Evolution 1.0, and none of them have a working Contacts/Addressbook. The buttons for add new Contact is greyed out, and it won't except any of my LDAP servers (the bottom line being that I can't add any contacts). I've tried running strace and lsof against the evolution-addressbook process, but I have yet to figure out which file (or files) it is looking for to store contacts. Every so often, I get a dialog saying I don't have access to the local contacts database. All my .gnome* and evolution/ permissions are fine. Just for grins, I tested evolution as root, and ran into the same problem. I will continue to investigate, but I wondered if anyone had Contacts working, and what they did to get it going. I have all the latest Gnome components up through 12/5/2001. Everything is built from ports.
