I have been tracking down a problem with snort 1.8.1_release on a PIII 800MHZ Originally I compiled it on 4.4 RC2 (4.3-stable) with I686_cpu in /etc/make.conf (full make world as well) snort core constantly dumped anywhere from 15mins to 2 hours. I removed the cpu flags in /etc/make.conf and rebuilt snort. Still core dumped. I did two things that fixed it (yes, I don't know which one fixed it) I 'downgraded' to 4.3 Security (RELENG_4_3) I set I586_cpu in /etc/make.conf, did make world and recompiled ports as well. One month later, no core dumps. I have not tried to make world at I686 cpu, nor have I gone up to 4.4 (4.3STABLE) yet. Which one is most likely to have cause problem? Has anyone else run into similar problems? -- Michael Scheidell Florida Datamation, Inc. scheidell@fdma.com 1+(561) 368-9561 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
