         Hello,

A T1 digital stream consists of 24 64kbps multiplexed time slots which come
to a total of 1.536mbps, extra 8kbps is for framing. Thus, possible maximum
throughput of a T1'd be: 192Kbytes/sec.

A 'burstable' T1 IMHO implies that it can burst up to 1.544 but
not steady 1.544mbps.

Symetric means, both up/down, or 'both ways' if you will. Cable
modem ISPs usually provide asymmetric access, thus high download
rate, slow upload rate.
