I also read this document and it appears to be a bit tounge in cheek. 
Am I wrong in that assement?

What other OS's are installed on the computer?  If DOS is one of them
you can try to install the sys files to get DOS to boot.  For FreeBSD I
believe that booteasy can be reinstalled from the CDROM with a total
FreeBSD system re-install.
