Not on the first slice but at the end of the disk, this area seem to be empty but it is not. IIrc the bios also reports a lower disk size to hide that area but Fbsd ignores that iirc. So be careful when paritioning with freebsd. Linux btw iirc recognizes the disk with the smaller size.
