I think you are right about this.  I think ACPI might be a better
target language since it could be the basis for a general "on panic,
run these hooks before switching to the debugger" interface.  However, 
I can't think of much other than the video cards that would need this
level of complexity.  IIRC, video chips on the mobo do have a 'reset'
option, but I'm away from my paper spec and can't say for sure.
