Common sense is not as common as you might think / wish, especially when
we're talking about style. In this particular case - whether or not to
mute mkdir - I don't think one could come up with really convincing
arguments, either pro or con.
Let's just 1) pick a convention, 2) stick to it, and 3) take measures so
everybody can be made aware of it. I'm worried about this 3rd part.
