I followed the instructions from www.freebsdrocks.com wrt to installing
S.O. 5.0 ( to the letter :-) and....... 'setup' still dumps core :-(

fwiw, here's what gdb has to say:
=============
$ gdb setup setup.core
GDB is free software and you are welcome to distribute copies of it
 under certain conditions; type "show copying" to see the conditions.
There is absolutely no warranty for GDB; type "show warranty" for details.
GDB 4.16 (i386-unknown-freebsd),
Copyright 1996 Free Software Foundation, Inc...(no debugging symbols found)...
Core was generated by `setup'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.
/lib/libX11.so.6: No such file or directory.
#0  0x28132ca8 in ?? ()
(gdb) quit

$
===============

all the 'expected' X11 libraries exist......
