>Description:

pkg_add adds new version of same software w/o any warnings or regard
of duplicity.

case in point: when i was in the process of installing
gnomecontrolcenter-1.4.0.1, pkg_add installed db3-3.2.9_2,1
when db3-3.2.9 was already installed, installed glib-1.2.10_4
when glib-1.2.10_3 was alredy installed.... w/o any warnings.

who knows what other software was reinstalled unnecessarily?

>How-To-Repeat:

install a dependecny software & let it age. or, install an old
version of a dependency software. then pkg_add software that
would be dependent on the already installed (old) dependency,
and watch pkg_add add junk load.
