To Whom it may concern I would like to report to your team that I had major problems with FreeBSD 2.0.5. I installed it four times with the original boot.flp, and installed it once with the June 12 boot.flp. All came to the same result, the /usr mount was lost on either shutdown or boot up. It would work for awhile, maybe a dozen cycles of bootup then it would loose /usr mount. I also generated my own kernel from the GENERIC kernel, and really did not change any of the options except remove unwanted drivers, and added my sound card, and also added SYSV extensions. I put on the full release with all the parts including DES, dict, and games, etc. I also put on the full X-Windows distribution except for the xdm package. Once the system was up and running, I then used to the ports command to compile seyon, fvwm, rzsz and gunzip. I added Xaw3d, xpm, and tcsh as binaries. Before I compiled the above programs I copied the Xaw3d include files and the libaries over the Xaw include files and libraries. The last stage in my feable install attemps were to delete unwanted directories in the experimnt and commmerce directories to conserve on disk storage. In order to perform these tasks I created one user account for myself, and gave myself super user status by appending my user name to the wheel group. Since I like to use Unix so well I ended up installing a minimal system with just the binaries, man pages, and games. I also installed kermit for communications purposes. I am going to leave my system like this until I hear how I can run it in confidence, or a new snap release comes out that works. If you need more information I will be happy to supply it. I am very dissappointed that things did not work out. I really enjoy FreeBSD and could not face putting Linux on my machine, as I can also get access to a Linux distribution CD.
