Pardon me, but I do not "know very well what it does" or I wouldn't
have asked!  Furthermore, since it's clearly reached the stage of
development where it can be checked in, you should also check in a man
page with it so that we don't have [even more] undocumented things
lying around the tree.  This is not too much to ask.
