ok, here is an example:

port is graphics/avifile. i did not have any files for it, so they 
needed to be fetched first. avifile-0.60.20010920.tar.gz was fetched 
during 'make build'. 

to complete the install process, w32codec-0.18.zip & wmvds32.ax.gz 
were needed & fetched. now, during the fetching of these 2 files, 
when i tried to stop (Ctrl-Z), fetching wasn't stopped and rewarded 
w/ '^Z' character.
