The S3 Virge/VX is a good choice, but there are still some problems with Xfree86. The current version of Xfree only supports up to 16bit depth, and the new beta, 3.2A, seems to have taken a step backwards. In 2D, it is very fast, and 1600x1200 finally gives me a decent workspace. If you're willing to work in 16bit, and wait for 24/32, I think it may make a good choice. YMMV. -Ken
