At the boot prompt type "?". This will give a list of all files in the
root directory. If there are no kernels there, get a boot floppy and a
fixit floppy made. I've forgotton the exact option in sysinstall, but
it's something to do with recovering an existing system. Either use the
floppy option, or the CDROM option if you have the CDs. the first things
you'll need to do is run fsck(8) on your disks, and pray that not too
much has been broken.
