Apparently my BIOS handles suspend as soon as proper bits are set in the register and resumes from there as well instead of calling resume vector code. Commenting this loop out and restoring interrupts after it got me to suspend with the same power savings as Windows (which is not much -- about 3x normal use battery life). I don't know how widespread this behavior is, so YMMV. -- Alexandre "Sunny" Kovalenko (Олександр Коваленко)
