I only suggested that those people who are really interested in
getting the last possible 2 % speed enhancement might do that.  By
doing so, they silently agree that they value this speed enhancement
more than the option of doing cross-compilation.

My only gripe with all this is that it's broke^H^H^H^H^Henabled by
default (and even with a particular stupid default...).
