Definitely, I've just put one in one of my computers, I just needed
"decice pcm" in the kernel.

pcm0: <AudioPCI ES1371> port 0xe000-0xe03f irq 11 at device 8.0 on pci0

Do you see any "unknown card" lines in the boot messages?  Is the card
even detected by the BIOS?  (My BIOS shows a list of devices, with the
sound card listed as a "Multimedia controller" or some such.)  What does
"pciconf -l" show?
