50M should be enough.  You should try to find out what is using all
that space.  Then move some of it to /usr and make a symlink to it.

I am afraid it is not possible to change the size of a filesystem
without repartitioning the disk.

AFAIK there is no partition magic type of program that can handle
resizing of FFS partisions anyway.
