Very brief answer: It doesn't work. Slightly longer answer: I've tried the Linux version, and the BSDI version, and tried to combine the two. Linux lets you index the site, and run simple searches from the command line, but crashes if you try to do a web search. (Using "New Style" search.). The BSDI version has the problem you see. I've written them asking for a FreeBSD version, but haven't gotten a response.
