Hello, I try to run XFree86 on my Alpha PC 164 box. SRM Console V5.5-1, OS is FreeBSD-4.9-RC1, my graphics card is a Matrox Millennium II, 8MB. I installed XFree86 via ports. The card gets recognized as: pci0: <Matrox MGA Millennium II 2164W graphics accelerator> at 5.0 irq 2 When I try to start X I get an error "No devices detected" Here is the output in /var/log/XFree86.0.log: XFree86 Version 4.3.0 Release Date: 27 February 2003 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6 Build Operating System: FreeBSD 4.9 alpha [ELF] Build Date: 08 October 2003 Before reporting problems, check http://www.XFree86.Org/ to make sure that you have the latest version. I also tried XFree86-3.3.6 and in this case it works (but only in 8bit color depth and I also see some strange color problems). The card is ok since it works well on a x86 machine. Is anyone using a Matrox Millenium II on a PC 164 board? Is there anything special with this card or with configuring X in general on alpha? Any other hints? Thanks Thomas
