I can confirm this, I got the same error as you did, on this machine:
root@kg-vm# uname -a
FreeBSD kg-vm.kg4.no 7.0-STABLE FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #9: Thu Feb 28
21:18:29 CET 2008     root@kg-vm.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC
amd64

Further, the port doesn't compile on i386 either, it fails with the
same error on this machine:
root@kg-i82# uname -a
FreeBSD kg-i82.kg4.no 7.0-STABLE FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #1: Sun Mar  2
01:18:27 CET 2008     root@kg-i82.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/I81K  i386
