If you have 2 ips on the same subnet, on the same interface, you would make the aliased interface use 255.255.255.255. Otherwise you would want to use 255.255.255.0. -Chris > -----Original Message----- > From: Cyril Brion [SMTP:cbri@saios.com] > Sent: Thursday, October 07, 1999 7:49 AM > To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org > Subject: network netmask mystery > > why do i have to configure the netmask with 255.255.255.255: my network > is on 255.255.255.0 ? > > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
