Hi Dave,

Sorry to post so much on this stuff but one thing to also look into 
is  hardware scaling at least certain S3 chipsets do provide
hardware scaling. Now that would be something wild to watch direct
vga memory access with hardware scaling --- I think that I am
getting dizzy already 8)
