I am not sure if this is exaclty the right list for this question, but =
it's worth a shot....

Anyway, I have a small network setup with natd and a cable modem, and =
everything works pretty slick. I have a question dealing with =
performance....

During streaming applications (online gaming comes to mind since I host =
a lan every month with this small setup) natd seems as if it cannot keep =
up. There will be seconds (never more than 1) of lag that are not =
accountable for. I previously used linux for my gateway to the internet, =
which seemed to have no problem with the streaming applications. I was =
wondering if there is a faster implementation I could use as my gateway =
with freebsd. I have been reading about ipfw and ipfilter. Would =
ipfilter be any faster in this case?and is it easy to implement? or is =
there a way to speed up the nat translation using natd? Any help is =
appreciated, or any other lists I could post this on for an answer is =
also.Thanks
