Subject: Default route getting hosed (2.2.1 w/gated 3.5.3)

We have a PPP dialup system, running FreeBSD 2.2.1 with gated 3.5.3
and pppd. On at least three occasions in the last month, I have seen
the routing tables get messed up, where the default route was
now out through the IP address on the -local- side of one of
the dialup PPP connections. Needless to say, that did not work
very well.

Has anybody else seen anything like this? Any ideas on where
to look [stupid gated config problem, gated bug, pppd bug, kernel
bug, cosmic rays, etc?]
