I've got a 2.2.7-RELEASE box with a generic NE2000 card. For some reason, sending is really slow; approx 120-130k/sec on an FTP file, perhaps even slower on POP. Sending is fast, however. Diagnostic notes: 'top' shows CPU hanging around 90% idle the entire time the problem is happening. telnet from the same system that's trying to retrieve a file via FTP works just fine - the machine is perfectly responsive while this is happening. problem occurs with ftp connection originating from Win'98 and Redhat 5.1 FTP transmissions happen in small bursts at very regular intervals - about 3/4 sec apart Any clues as to what could be causing this?
