Same There was an implicit answer, but no helpful pointer. The obj code will go to another directory by default (/usr/obj), but it can be redirected to another location. To force the install of a particular port into a certain dir you can use the PREFIX variable. But you have to take care of changes then (e.g. adding the directory to your PATH), and this location isn't picked up by portupgrade automatically, you have to tech portupgrade manually about it. For more about the variables and possibilities have a look at the ports(7) manual page. > I know I could look in the makefiles and stuff, but I really don't have > that kind of time (damn sys. admining) Is there some documentation or > something I don't know about that answers questions like these? Try "apropos <generic keyword>", it may come up with something (like it does for ports and build).
