Got the patch and used DAP and succeeded immediatedly recording from line input with my SB PCI128 (es1371). Sound quality seems to be quiet nice. Did not make any changes to DAP, because DAP doesn't crash any more since es1371-4.src3.patch. Unfortunatedly I encountered another problem: I wasn't able to change the LINE input's VOLUME. I modified the line volume using DAP's X Mixer. FreeBSD's mixer reported the changed values, but input volume did not change effectively. Russell, many thanks so far!
