For the record, this is what I have in my /etc/inetd.conf

This uses the internal ident server, returns the OS UNKNOWN and returns a
user foobar when it cannot determine the user.

auth    stream  tcp     nowait  root    internal        auth -r -f -n -o
UNKNOWN
 -t 30 -d foobar

I actually ripped this off another e-mail on this same list...
