BTW, we need a new nss implementation; the current one has serious flaws
that cannot be fixed without a redesign.  That would be a good occasion
to write a solid, shared passwd(5) / group(5) parser, and maybe get rid
of pwd.db, which serves no real purpose and is not compatible with a
full implementation of the + syntax.

(we still have to generate it for the sake of older programs, but we
don't have to use it)
