Hm, okay... I didn't test this, but in this case one must specify the
path to the loader. So, if your /boot is for example da0s0 try:
boot disk0 /loader 

If you use a slice other than 0, you have to adjust the bootpath from
/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/disk@0,0:a to e.g.
/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/disk@0,0:d for da0s3
